Do you need a UV light on your hot tub?
Sanitising your hot tub water is always paramount for your safety. Some hot tubs rely solely on chemicals such as chlorine and bromine to sanitise, other spas utilise UV bulbs as an extra means of disinfecting water. Ultraviolet light sterilises mould, bacteria and viruses which can no longer multiply when affected by the rays. Hot tubs often have a range of systems from the Jacuzzi® ClearRay™ to the widely used Balboa Ozone, all are gentle to the skin and eyes and are pH neutral, yet still work to oxidise and sanitise your tub's water so you can soak with peace of mind.

What is ClearRay™ on Jacuzzi?
Jacuzzi’s ClearRay® Water Purification System uses ultraviolet light to disinfect your hot tub’s water, this reduces the amount of sanitiser you need in your spa, for crystal clear water.

Do I need chlorine with ClearRay™?
ClearRay® reduces the amount of sanitiser you need in your hot tub by up to 50%. It’s compatible with both chlorine and bromine sanitisers.

How do I change a ClearRay™ bulb?
Instructions are included, or you can check out our ClearRay blog post for instructions and a video of how to change your bulb. Alternatively, you may choose to have one of our skilled hot tub technicians change it. Get in touch to book your hot tub service.

How long does a ClearRay™ bulb last?
Jacuzzi recommend ClearRay™ bulbs are replaced every 12 months.

How long does a Balboa Ozone bulb last?
Ozone systems have a UV light or corona discharge which needs replacing every 18 months.
