  • A full glass front

8 mm grey safety glass across the front, with a glass door and a long handle, keeps the cabin light and open to the room.

  • Thermo-aspen inside

Aspen is smooth, splinter-free and resin-free, so it is comfortable on bare skin and doesn't weep sticky resin in the heat.

  • Benches on two levels

Two long upper benches face each other down both sides, with a lower bench and a step in the middle, so six people can sit together.

  • Harvia The Wall heater

A slim wall-hung heater with the Fenix Wi-Fi panel, so you can set the heat on the wall or start it from your phone. It comes with 9 kW.

  • Soft LED light

LED lighting under the benches, with colour settings, for a calm evening session.

  • Comes with the essentials

A bucket, a ladle, a thermometer and hygrometer, and a sauna timer are in the box.

Why people love a sauna at home

A proper switch-off
Twenty minutes of heat is a simple way to wind down after a long day.
No trip to the spa
It is in the house, so a session fits round work, the school run or a late evening.
Time together
Room to talk, with no screens and no distractions.
Hot and cold
Follow it with a cool shower or an ice bath for the Nordic routine.

What the Traditional 220 needs from the room

It is a cabin that stands inside a room, so check the space, the way in and the power before it arrives.

A dry, level floor

Stand it on a dry, level, hard floor in a dry room. It is made for indoor use only.

Space around it

The cabin is 221 × 215 cm and 200 cm tall. Hekla asks for at least 50 cm clear above it to fit the roof panel and wiring, so you need a ceiling of about 250 cm. Leave room to open the door.

A dedicated electric supply

The Wall heater is hard-wired by a qualified electrician on its own supply from your consumer unit, on a standard 230 V supply. Keep the room ventilated.

Built like a proper sauna room

What is in the walls, the glass and the benches, and why it matters.

TimberframeSmooth aspeninside
How the Traditional 220 is built

Walls

A timber frame lined with thermo-aspen.

The inside is smooth thermo-aspen, which stays comfortable to touch in the heat and has no resin to weep.

What to watch for elsewhere

Resinous softwood inside.

Some cheaper cabins use softwood that can weep sticky resin and get hot to the touch.

8 mm grey glass
How the Traditional 220 is built

Glass

8 mm grey safety glass.

A full glass front and door in tempered safety glass made for sauna heat, so the cabin feels open rather than boxed in.

What to watch for elsewhere

A small window in a timber door.

A solid front can make a small room feel dark and enclosed.

Soft light under the benches
How the Traditional 220 is built

Light

LED light under the benches.

Soft light from below, with colour settings, so the room feels calm rather than bright.

What to watch for elsewhere

A single ceiling light.

A bare light above your head is harsh when you are trying to relax.

Fresh air in, low downWarm air out, up high
How the Traditional 220 is built

Air

A ventilation valve.

Fresh air comes in and warm, used air goes out through the vent, so the air stays fresh while you sit in the heat.

What to watch for elsewhere

No way for air to move.

Without ventilation the air goes stale and the room gets stuffy.

Your heater and what it costs to run

The Traditional 220 uses Harvia The Wall, a slim heater that hangs on the wall to save space, with the Fenix Wi-Fi panel. It comes with 9 kW, which Hekla matches to the room. Pick one above and the figures here follow your choice.

How we work this out: a 45-minute warm-up at full power, then a one-hour session with the heater on about half the time, so about 1.25 hours at full power. Electricity at 26.32p per kWh, the Ofgem price cap from October to December 2026. A month is 4.3 weeks. Your costs depend on your tariff, the weather and how hot you like it.

Your first sauna session

There is no wrong way to sauna, but this simple rhythm is how most Finns do it.

Hottest up highGentler lower downCoolest at your feetWater on the stones makes soft steam: löyly
  1. Warm it up

Switch on 30 to 45 minutes before. Most people enjoy 70 to 90°C. Take a quick shower first.

  2. Sit in the heat

Stay 8 to 15 minutes. Sit higher for more heat, lower for less. Ladle a little water on the stones for a burst of soft steam.

  3. Cool down

Step out for a cold shower, a dip in an ice bath or just fresh air.

  4. Rest and repeat

Sit down, drink some water, and when you are ready go back in. Two or three rounds is plenty.

Help from our UK team

Easy to look after

A few simple habits keep it looking good and smelling fresh.

Sit on a towel

It keeps the aspen benches clean and stops sweat marks soaking into the wood.

Let it dry out

After a session, leave the door ajar so the inside dries. Don't use cleaning products or oils inside.

Check the stones

Re-stack the heater stones once a year and replace any that have crumbled.

Keep the room aired

Keep the vent clear and the room around the cabin ventilated, so warm, damp air has somewhere to go.

Questions people ask

The things people usually want to know before they buy.

How many people fit?

Hekla says 6, on two levels of bench.

Can I put it in a garage or basement?

Yes, as long as the room is dry, level and ventilated. It is made for indoor use only.

How much ceiling height do I need?

About 250 cm. The cabin is 200 cm tall and Hekla asks for 50 cm above it to fit the roof panel and wiring.

Can I pour water on the stones?

Yes. The Wall holds stones, and a ladle of water makes a burst of soft steam, called löyly. The ladle and bucket are in the box.

Can I warm it up from my phone?

Yes. The Wall comes with the Fenix Wi-Fi panel and the MyHarvia app.

Do I need an electrician?

Yes. The heater is hard-wired to its own supply by a qualified electrician.

What is the difference between Scandi and Nero?

Scandi is natural timber outside. Nero has a black finish outside. The inside is the same in both.
