Two things decide which heat pump suits you: how much water you need to heat, and how you want to control it. Get those right and the choice of model is easy.
A hot tub's own electric heater turns each unit of electricity into about one unit of heat. A heat pump takes warmth from the outside air, so the same unit of electricity gives you several units of heat: up to 12.9 on our 7kW Wi-Fi model, and 4.4 to 7.2 on the Aquark Mr Silence 7kW when the air is 15°C. Our heat pumps start from £1,699.

A hot tub's built-in electric heater gives about one unit of heat for each unit of electricity. A heat pump moves warmth from the outside air into the water, so it gives several units of heat for each unit of electricity. That is why heat pumps are the efficient way to keep a hot tub or swim spa hot all year.
COP stands for coefficient of performance: the heat a heat pump gives out divided by the electricity it uses. A COP of 5 means 1kW of electricity gives 5kW of heat. COP goes up in warm air and down in cold air. The Aquark Mr Silence 7kW has a COP of 14.0 to 7.1 in 27°C air and 7.2 to 4.4 in 15°C air, and our 7kW Wi-Fi model reaches up to 12.9.
A 7kW heat pump suits most hot tubs. The Aquark Mr Silence 7kW is made for spas and pools of 15 to 30 cubic metres. For a swim spa or a large hot tub, choose 11 or 12kW: the Outdoor Living 12kW gives up to 12.5kW of heat, and the Aquark Mr Silence 11kW suits 30 to 55 cubic metres.
Yes. The Outdoor Living 7kW works in air down to -7°C with automatic defrost. The Outdoor Living 12kW has a bottom plate heater to stop ice building up and works down to -14°C, or -12°C on the Wi-Fi model. The Aquark Mr Silence works from -10°C to 43°C.
The Outdoor Living 7kW runs at 54 dB(A) and the 12kW at 55 dB(A). The Aquark Mr Silence starts at just 36.5 dB(A), about as quiet as a fridge, and slows to a quieter mode as the water gets close to temperature.
Yes, the Outdoor Living heat pumps have a cooling mode. Switch it on in a heatwave and the 7kW can bring the water down to 8°C, so your hot tub becomes a cool plunge.
The heat pump sits outside next to your hot tub or swim spa and connects into its pipework, with 50mm water connections on the Outdoor Living models. It runs on a single phase 220 to 240V supply: 8A at most on the Outdoor Living 7kW and 13A on the 12kW Wi-Fi. The installation manual covers where to put it, the pipe connections and the power supply, and a qualified electrician should connect the power.
Our heat pumps come with kerbside delivery for £25, in 1 to 2 days.
Outdoor Living heat pumps come with a 1 year warranty, and Aquark heat pumps with a 2 year warranty.
