Frequently asked questions about swim spas

Why choose a swim spa?
There are many benefits to your health and lifestyle when you invest in a swim spa:
Pool, hot tub and aquatic gym in one - Swim spas are a practical, affordable and space-saving alternative to a swimming pool. Our high quality swim spas don’t compromise on your workout - you can adjust the current for your perfect swim, as well as getting all the benefits of aqua aerobics while you stretch, row, jog, relax and play with your own resistance pool.
Wellness and hydrotherapy - Sit back, relax and enjoy a comfortable hydromassage from powerful jets, while you soothe your muscles after a workout, or destress after a long day. Combining fitness and wellbeing, hot tub swimming pools are the best of both worlds, whether it's a refreshing swim in summer or a relaxing soak in winter.
Family friendly - Teach your kids how to swim in a safe and secure environment. We’ve got a range of swim spas to suit your budget and garden, for both families and fitness lovers.

Can you swim properly in a swim spa?
Yes! The powerful jets in a swim spa create a constant current, so you can swim on the spot like a water treadmill. Swim spas are also perfect for teaching your kids how to swim in a safe and secure environment, as well as for maintaining stamina if you’re an advanced swimmer, all in the comfort of your very own resistance pool!
-
Can you sit in a swim spa?
Yes! Swim spas have a range of seating options, from 3 seaters so you can sit back after a swim, to 9 seat swim spas with built-in benches, making them perfect for families and hot tub parties. If you’re looking to relax as well as swim, swim spas benefit from the hydrotherapy technology of hot tubs while you put your feet up. Hydro massage uses water to soothe aches and pains, improving a whole range of physical conditions, such as arthritis and poor circulation, as well as reducing mental stress.
-
Is a swim spa as good as a hot tub?
A swim spa combines all the hydrotherapy, wellness and relaxation benefits of a hot tub, with the added luxury of a swimming pool - all at a fraction of the cost of a pool.

-
How long do swim spas last?
Swim spas generally last up to 20 years with regular cleaning and weather protection. Your spa’s lifetime will be increased by consistent care, proper maintenance with quality chemicals and sheltering it from the elements with a gazebo and thermal cover. Swim spas also have the added benefit of being portable, so you can take your pool with you if you move house! We only sell high quality swim spas, so you can rest assured you can enjoy hundreds of swims for years to come.
-
Do you need planning permission for a swim spa?
No, swim spas and hot tubs should not need planning permission. If you're looking to construct a building above your swim spa, then contact your local authority.
-
Do you have to change the water in a swim spa?
Yes, you need to change your swim spa's water to prevent a build up of contaminents which can damage your health, as well as your spa. You'll know the water needs draining when foam starts to form, or when you have a hard time balancing chemical levels. How often you need to do this depends on usage, but aim for every 3 to 4 months, keeping an eye on water test results in the meantime.
